Multiple Measures Dashboard Series

The Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO), the Learning Policy Institute (LPI), and the Stanford Center for Opportunity Policy in Education (SCOPE) are excited to launch a webinar series on Multiple Measures Dashboards for state education agency leadership, including accountability directors and chief information officers. The webinar series will help states navigate the Every Student Succeeds Act’s (ESSA) multiple measures accountability requirements by exploring data dashboard systems.

Personalized Learning: Meeting the Needs of Students with Disabilities and English Learners

The Alliance for Excellent Education is joining with the National Center for Learning Disabilities (NCLD) and National Council of La Raza (NCLR) to host the release of NCLD’s new report Personalized Learning: Meeting the Needs of Students with Disabilities and discuss findings from NCLD’s and NCLR’s recent research on personalized learning.

NCLD’s new report, which will be released at this event, is based on a year-long process through which NCLD and NCLR engaged with leading education and disability experts and advisors—including educators, school administrators, researchers, and advocates—to explore best practices for including students with disabilities and English learners in personalized learning.

NAEP’s Technology and Engineering Literacy Assessment a New Approach to Assessment

The Alliance for Excellent Education is joining with the National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB) to host a webinar on National Assessment of Educational Progress’s (NAEP’s) new Technology and Engineering Literacy (TEL) assessment.

The TEL assessment is a new part of NAEP and reflects a new approach to assessment. This webinar will share information about the assessment—its genesis, the types of information in the report, and potential use of that information. In addition, the webinar will highlight the TEL assessment’s departure from typical assessment designs used in NAEP; it relies on scenario-based problem sets that test students through their interaction with multimedia tasks.

Envision Education believes that students are ready to succeed in college and in career when they have developed the ability to think like a historian or mathematician, the ability to know and use the leadership skills necessary in college and life, and the ability to reflect about one’s personal journey as a learner. In short, Envision students are able in knowing, doing, and reflecting.

The College Success Portfolio Defense is our capstone activity that pulls knowing, doing, and reflecting into one place, into one moment. It is the final inquiry, the final essential question, the final exhibition – a culmination of four years of work. Akin to a dissertation defense or professional presentation, students stand before a panel of their peers, adult educators, and mentors to demonstrate the depth of their knowing, doing, and reflecting as evidenced by their academic work and self-reflection.
