A New Vision for Teaching

How Deeper Learning Can Create a New Vision for Teaching

“Imagine the opportunities that today’s students will experience as they embark on their future lives and careers: unprecedented access to information, myriad new ways to express their creativity, effortless global connectivity, and academic choices and careers we can’t yet envision.”

This paper highlights examples of teachers, principals, and schools that have embraced a forward-thinking, student-centered approach to learning out-comes called deeper learning. Schools across the country provide a vision for how learning is shifting and this paper describes the ways in which teacher roles must shift to enable deeper learning.

Teachers that work to expand deeper learning to all students must adapt to six new roles, a shift from being the sole source of knowledge in our nation’s classrooms.
